Choosing a Meeting Location

Like a good Finish Location, a good business meeting location will have many of the following characteristics:

  • Place orders at the counter – so each person or group of people can order and pay separately and a wait-person won't care that we're sitting a long while.
  • A fairly quiet place for us – a room/area reserved is ideal, if we don't have to pay for it.
    • We need available space (e.g., tables we can move together can suffice).
    • We need not too much noise (such as sports TV or loud music).
    • We don't want our discussion to ruin anyone else's evening.
  • WiFi (Internet access) and cell phone coverage should be available.
  • Open late – at least until 10 PM, and later would be better. If our meeting goes to 10, some may chat or work on the next rallye.
    • Many pizza places close at 9 PM.
  • Various types of food – because not everyone wants the same thing (not even pizza)
  • Reasonably low prices.
  • Good lighting – so people can read from papers
  • Reasonably close to attendees or to freeway – so we can arrive on time and start the meeting and also make a quick getaway.

Meeting Locations

The following have been used as meeting locations in the past.

San Jose Round Table Pizza

  • Address: 4400 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose
  • Reservations: 866-642-8950
  • Phone: 408-983-0900

Sunnyvale Round Table Pizza

  • Address: 860 Old San Francisco Rd, Sunnyvale, CA 94086===
  • Phone: (650) 941-0237
  • Review: Their salad bar was considerably smaller and less appetizing than other Round Tables.
  • They have a "back room" but it cannot be reserved IIRC and there can be arcade machine noise.

Places We Might Try

These places sound (or look) suitable, and the manager has confirmed we are welcome.

Mountain Mike's Pizza, Redwood City

  • On El Camino Real, North of Whipple, Redwood City
  • 120 El Camino Real, Redwood City, CA 94062
  • (650) 366-9090
  • They have a private room reserve-able for free if we normally spend $75. I doubt we do.
  • Open until 10 PM, which is acceptable, but not ideal.
  • Dean spoke to the manager Brian in 8/26/2013; he is there most mornings.

Potential Meeting Locations

Someone should visit these places when nearby and see if they meet our criteria. If they aren't busy, ask the manager whether we'd be welcome to stay from 7:30 to 9:30, whether we can reserve an area or room (or at least ask for music or TV to be turned off), whether a non-eater would be allowed, etc. Delete entries that are unacceptable.
